Per un millesimo Johann Zarco (Came Iodaracing Project) si riconferma il più veloce sul circuito del Hertz British Grand Prix battendo sul finale il leader del mondiale Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) nel suo tracciato di casa. Zarco oltre ad ottenere il miglior tempo con 2’07.591 segna anche il nuovo record del pista.
Terzo crono per Takaaki Nakagami (Italtrans Racing Team) davanti a Thomas Luthi (Interwetten Paddock Moto2 Racing), Esteve Rabat (Tuenti HP 40) e Danny Kent (Tech3).
Xavier Simeon ( Maptaq SAG Zelos Team) settimo precede Pol Espargaro (Tuenti HP 40) ottavo, autore di un turno di prove poco brillante con un ritardo di sette decimi dai primi.
Mika Kallio (Marc VDS Racing Team) e Nicolas Terol (Aspar Team Moto2) completano la top ten.
